Friday last week, we at NIVA Denmark celebrated our 10th anniversary. The occasion was marked by a mini-symposium in the afternoon and a reception in the evening. The symposium was opened by Ellen Johannesen, researcher at NIVA Denmark, and Pål Molander, director of NIVA.
- The aim of expanding research knowledge in the Danish market has gradually extended to include NIVA’s entire scope of work. Today, we have employees at the Danish office working on various NIVA projects. This blend of perspectives creates a dynamic and vibrant office in Denmark, delivering great results and contributing significantly to NIVA’s overall achievements, says Pål.
Jacob Carstensen, professor at the Department of Ecoscience at Aarhus University, then presented on the development of integrated assessment tools, to which NIVA has contributed. Ditte Mandøe Andreasen, Program Director at Tænketanken Hav, followed with a presentation on the winding road from research to policy. Finally, Nikolai Friberg, also a professor at the Department of Ecoscience at Aarhus University, told the story of NIVA Denmark, a story he titled “Against all odds.”
- Personally, I find it both impressive and amusing that NIVA Denmark is leading several of the more challenging development tasks we have at NIVA, says Pål, referring to AquaSync and much of the work related to the Ecosystems and Biodiversity Theme Centre under the European Environment Agency.
From NIVA Denmark, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to celebrate the day with us and to the keynote speakers for their insightful presentations.
