Data basis for Denmark’s maritime spatial plan

NIVA Denmark has been tasked by the Danish Maritime Authority to identify data regarding human activities and pressures and to compile an overview of existing databases and new data about marine nature and the seabed. This includes conducting a gap analysis and proposing how the data overview can be tailored to strengthen the ecosystem-based approach in marine planning. The delivery of the task will include a state-of-the-art overview of existing and potential new data, a gap analysis, as well as conclusions and recommendations that will be reported in the form of a NIVA Denmark report. The report will focus on the relevance of these data in relation to a wide range of different human activities and stress factors and their effect on relevant ecosystem components. From the Danish Maritime Authority, Trine Skovgaard Kirkfeldt and Henrik Skovmark will oversee the project, while research manager Jesper H. Andersen, senior researchers Ciarán Murray and Therese Harvey, and research assistant Simon Özkan from NIVA Denmark will be responsible for the preparation of the report.

Questions regarding the report should be directed to research manager Jesper H. Andersen at jha@niva-dk.dk.
