NIVA Denmark has prepared a report for the Danish Ministry of the Environment on the accumulated impacts on the marine ecosystems in Danish waters. The report is based on existing and quality-assured data sets and uses a methodology that is used in research and development projects and by, among others, The Baltic Sea Convention (HELCOM) and the European Environment Agency (EEA). In addition to a mapping of the spatial variations in the overall impacts, an expound has been made of which pressure factors are dominant and which ecosystems are under the most pressure. In addition, the report contains a preliminary assessment of where three groups of pressure factors (classical, new and climate) are expected to develop in the future. The report thus constitutes a contribution to the national work with the implementation of the EU’s Maritime Strategy Framework Directive, especially preparation of Initial Assessment Analysis III.
